Best Albums You Never Heard Of
OK, maybe some of you have heard of some of these albums... I like them a lot, and let's just say they never hit the top 100:
Dance Hall At Louse Point- Polly Jean Harvey and John Parish
My Life in the Bush of Ghosts- Brian Eno and David Byrne
In which sampling and funk take flight.
Hips and Makers- Kristin Hersh
Her early masterpiece. Crystalline, confessional, brilliant.
Mister Heartbreak- Laurie Anderson
Performance artist Anderson creates a album with an almost tropical feel.
Jack Johnson Sessions- Miles Davis
Miles got together some of the best talent around in the early 1970's (including one of my favority guitarists, John McLaughlin) to jam in a funk groove, ostensibly for an obscure movie soundtrack. They recorded everything, and it is now availabe on a multi-disc CD. Very modern sounding.
Hello Young Lovers- Glass Eye
Seminal album by Austin band that should've made the big time, but never did. Check out "God Take All" and "The Crooked Place."
