Samedi the Deafness

This is a very strange book. A professional mnemonist out for a walk hears a dying man's last words, warning of a strange cult. Our protagonist follows the clues, which lead to a house of pathological liars, and hints of an impending apocalypse. Who is a friend and who an enemy? What is true? You're never quite sure with this book. The plot is intriguing, the writing wonderfully poetic.
